Alternate Market Opportunities for Bioenergy Feedstocks

Presenters: Evelyn Thomchick, Penn State Smeal College of Business and Sarah Wurzbacher, Penn State Extension

In an environment where large-scale biorefineries and long-term contracts are difficult to secure, producers must identify opportunities to diversify the way they market biomass crops. This webinar explores non-energy ("alternate") uses for Tier 1 bioenergy feedstocks as well as downstream co-products and biomass in more processed forms. Building success around these markets can help establish supply and supply chains in a region, encouraging larger commercial biomass industry development there in the future.

The NEWBio Webinar Series  is hosted by Mike Jacobson and Sarah Wurzbacher, Penn State University and eXtension Farm Energy and held on the second Tuesday of each month at 1PM Eastern time, 12 CT, 11 MT, 10 PT. These online, hour-long presentations are free to the public, and feature important topics related to bioenergy in the northeast.
