What's New With Bird Flu?

Avian influenza  is a disease of wild birds and domestic poultry caused by many different subtypes of Type A influenza virus. The natural reservoir for Type A influenza viruses is wild water birds such as ducks and geese. New influenza A subtypes are continually emerging in the waterfowl population due to the constant mutation of the virus.

Dr. Nathaniel Tablante discussed the latest developments regarding avian influenza and what you can do to protect your flocks.

Dr. Tablante is Associate Director of the Center for Public and Corporate Veterinary Medicine at the University of Maryland, Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. He also serves as the University of Maryland Point of Contact to EDEN.

The free webinar is open to everyone and is especially suited for  poultry producers and small flock owners, and Extension agriculture agents.
