Goals: This one-day, interactive workshop will prepare participants to deliver engaging, innovative and effective programs for beginning women farmers and ranchers. The workshop will help participants expand and improve existing initiatives and get new programs off to the right start. See the draft agenda, learning goals, and workshop planning committee.
Who Should Attend? We seek a diverse group of US agricultural educators and service providers, who are interested in or currently deliver programs for beginning farmers and women farmers. People representing Extension, nonprofits, government agencies, and agribusinesses are encouraged to apply. Farmers and ranchers who offer beginning farmer training programs are also eligible.
Post Workshop Expectations and Support: All participants will be expected to complete an evaluation survey at the conclusion of the workshop and follow-up evaluation surveys over the next 12 months. Follow-up networking, mentoring and support in developing, modifying and expanding women in ag programs will be available to all participants who seek it.
Cost: The workshop, including breakfast and lunch on Nov. 29, is being offered free of charge to participants. Additionally, everyone who applies by October 14 is eligible for a stipend to cover one night's lodging (November 28) at the DoubleTree. Other travel expenses, including transportation to and from Portland, other meals and lodging, is the responsibility of the participant and their organization/employer.
How to Apply: Submit the online application form by October 26, 2016. Space is limited however, and submission does not guarantee acceptance.
Criteria for Acceptance Completed applications (including receipt of your supervisor's signature) from eligible individuals will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants will receive a notification within 5 business days of receipt of your completed application. At the end of the form you will find instructions for sending us your supervisor's signature indicating organizational support for your participation in the workshop.
