Promising Trends in Research: Compelling Talking Points for Educators, Practitioners and Academics

During this session Dr. Billy Hensley will cover recent research projects and national polls that the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) has funded; examples of topics to be covered include: the financial capability of Millennials, the use of technology in goal setting, linking financial education to retirement savings, and the impact of diminished capacity on financial decision making. In addition, the webinar will provide an overview of several research projects that are underway as well as a offer a preview of new program features and courses that NEFE will be releasing in 2017.

Billy J. Hensley, Ph.D., is the Senior Director of Education for the National Endowment for Financial Education® (NEFE) where he directs the grant-making, research, college, web and consumer education programs for the foundation. His primary research interests are financial education, teacher professional development and assessment, the sociocultural influences on behavioral choices, and curriculum design. Prior to joining NEFE, he was a Research Fellow at the University of Cincinnati, and has held positions at KnowledgeWorks Foundation, Ohio College Access Network, Hiram College and Union College.

 Hensley is the recipient of the Rising Star Alumni Award from Union College, where he earned a BS and MA, received the Outstanding Doctoral Student of the Year Award in Educational Studies from the University of Cincinnati where he earned a PhD, and has published in several educational research journals. In addition to his work at NEFE, Billy is on the adjunct faculty with the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Louisville and served on the national evaluation advisory board for After-School All-Stars.
