Presented by: Kadi Row, Mary Ann Schilling, Cody Fredrick, and Kathy Staats (University of Wisconsin)

Reducing Rural Cancer Disparities Together is a collaborative effort between the University of Wisconsin-Extension and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. The dual purposes of this project are to increase understanding and skills of rural residents to make informed health decisions related to cancer prevention while building capacity in health-focused coalitions to address rural health needs.

Key to this effort is disseminating a rural cancer education program, Cancer Clear & Simple, in a statewide expansion by targeting 33 rural counties with higher cancer incidence and/or mortality. The original curriculum has been enhanced through the addition of new training materials and videos, a facilitator website, and evaluation tools. In addition, four health-focused community coalitions are receiving technical assistance on how to conduct policy, systems and environmental interventions that complement direct education efforts.

During this webinar, the project team will share details of the project and lessons learned, and offer opportunities for adoption in other states/regions.

Funding for Reducing Rural Cancer Disparities Together is provided by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture Rural Health and Safety Education Competitive Grants Program.
