Parental Resilience and Correctional Systems Audiences

"Parental Resilience and Correctional Systems Audiences" features Amanda Dornfeld, Liz Lexau, and Mary Wood, three University of Wisconsin - Extension colleagues. They will give a brief overview of the link between Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and Protective Factors and an in-depth look at the protective factor of parental resilience. Then they will provide concrete examples of how our Extension work supports correctional systems audiences in building resilience (to help both while they are incarcerated and when they are in the community). Topics will include skill building to deal with toxic stress such as calming skills, self-control, or effective communication.
This is the first webinar in the University of Wisconsin - Extension Family Living Tech Talks' 2017-2018 Series "Protective Factors in Extension” will take an in-depth look at the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework and Family Living/Extension's role in supporting each factor. Tune into this ongoing series of four webinars to learn more about the interrelated topics of ACES, protective factors, and our local responses.
