In partnership with the Department of Defense’s Office of Military Community and Family Policy, Penn State University's Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness is implementing a new initiative to empower parents as they nurture their children across developmental stages. The THRIVE Initiative includes age-specific programs designed to guide parents in learning and using parenting and health promotion strategies for raising healthy children. This 90-minute webinar will focus on the Grow program which is designed for parents of children 5 to 10 years old. The most developed program within the initiative, Grow is offered in an in-person, group-based format with five sessions. Join us as we learn how Grow helps parents to learn positive parenting techniques, stress management strategies, and health promotion skills that can be used to help children be happy and healthy.
Jennifer DiNallo, PhD, is the Director of Research at the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State. She has been a part of the Clearinghouse team since 2010. Over this time, Jen has had the opportunity to lead on the development, implementation, and evaluation of several programs and projects focused on serving military families, including the THRIVE parenting initiative, and the Resource Center for Obesity Prevention. Jen’s research interests include the impact of health promotion behaviors on obesity outcomes, with a focus on parent-focused health promotion interventions.
We anticipate being able to provide 1.5 CEUs through the University of Texas at Austin’s School of Social Work. These educational hours may be submitted by professionals to meet continuing education requirements for renewal of Social Work, Professional Counselor, and Marriage and Family Therapist licenses. The University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work is an approved CEU provider in all but the following 11 states: Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, and Oklahoma. However, participants are encouraged to check with their states’ latest licensing rules to confirm reciprocity and CEU rules.
