Using Pinterest in Education - A Conversation

There has been a lot of interest lately in Pinterest, a visually-engaging social tool for sharing images, videos and information. The groundswell has been evident among Extension staff, military families service providers and the general public.

In December 2011, Pinterest received 11 million visits in a week – a 400% growth in just six months. With a user base that is 80% women, Pinterest has potential as an outlet for food, family and consumer information.

In this eXtension Network Literacy CoP session, we'll look at some of the momentum behind Pinterest, get an introduction to using the tool and discuss possible application for Pinterest in education.

This was an informative session. I especially liked the chance to see how others in Extension are using Pinterest.

I like the suggestion of pinning the fruit kabobs for a nutrition education board! Thanks to A.Norris, UAF Extension for the idea.
