The Child Care concentration of the Military Families Learning Network is proud to announce this presentation of our Child Care and Military Families web conference series.

This web conference will:
-Identify the risk and protective factors related to resiliency in military children.
-Describe the characteristics of military families that require and develop resiliency.
-Discuss how adults (including child care providers) can support the development of resiliency.
-Examine how differences in child temperament and development inform approaches.


Karen Petty, Ph.D is the Interim Chair and Professor of Child Development in the Department of Family Sciences at Texas Woman’s University. She is the author of Deployment: Strategies for Working with Kids in Military Families. Dr Petty conducts qualitative interviews with military children and families which focuses on the identification of protective and risk factors and the development of resiliency in children.
