Thermochemical Technologies for Production of Fuels and Biobased Products

Presenter Dr. Robert Brown is a foremost expert and author on biomass conversion processes with the CenUSA project and the Bioeconomy Institute at Iowa State University.

CenUSA Webinar will discuss the merits of thermochemical processing of biomass for the production of fuels and bio-based products. Thermochemical processing is distinguished from biochemical processing in the use of heat and catalysts instead of microorganisms and enzymes. This talk will describe the thermochemical technologies of gasification, pyrolysis, and solvent liquefaction and the companies that are developing these commercially.

Dr. Brown has published two textbooks on conversion of biomass to fuel. His expertise in conversion helped form the Bioeconomy Institute at Iowa State University. He will discuss the opportunities and challenges of biomass conversion
