TERSSA Conference - "Take-Charge Leadership" by Allisen Penn

The Extension and Research Support Staff Association (TERSSA) virtual conference, Friday, November 12, 2010.

Effective leaders have a positive influence on the people around them – up, down, and across the organization. This session will guide you through a series of learning activities to help you identify leadership strategies you may use to bring about positive change in your work environment.

Allisen Penn joined the University of Tennessee Extension as the Central Region Program Leader – Family and Consumer Sciences in January 2010. She brings 23 years of Extension Experience from the University Of Arkansas Division Of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service. Allisen had a wide variety of positions and experience with Arkansas Extension, she served ten years as a County Extension Agent with FCS and 4-H responsibilities in four counties, five years as the Southwest Associate District Director and eight years as an Assistant Professor – Leadership Development in Program and Staff Development. Allisen has an undergraduate degree in Home Economics and Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She is currently writing her dissertation for a doctorate in Higher Education Faculty Development at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. Allisen and her daughter, Mattie, are delighted to live in Lebanon, TN close to their family.
